It’s recipe round-up time which Ann is hosting at Whatever things and this time its recipes from around the world!
I was originally born in Scotland and was brought up there for half of my childhood, so I will post a recipe for SCOTTISH TABLET. This is something I always mean to make, but never get around to it! It was something we used to enjoy as children when we went on a day-trip with our parents to the highlands. It can be bought everywhere in Scotland, but we just loved the homemade variety which you got in little Scottish villages such as this one, Callander.
I am partially N.Irish too, but you will find all those recipes over here.
That’s all for now! If I think of another I will post it!

I’ve heard of it but I’ve never made it - is it a bit like Fudge really?

I love Scottish Tablet…there’s a wee man in one of the shops in Luss on the West Side of Lomond that gives away samples of it and shortbread as you browse the tartan etc!

Luss brings back memories. I do think I remember that tartan shop with the wee man and tray of tablet!
I was born a few miles down the road from there in Alexandria.
e - not as chewy as fudge, quite sugary but a difficult texture to describe.

Thanks for the recipe links and the link for Callander. The last time we were in Scotland we stayed in Oban and Edinburgh. We want to get to the highllands on our next trip.
